Everything below is lifted directly from the CCGC By-Laws — reformatted for readability but not softened. Know them before you walk through the gate.
On the Line
Muzzles never cross a person — actions open when not shooting.
Rifles not in use go in a rack with action open or chamber flag in place.
Unload and open the action before leaving any shooting station.
Shoot only at prescribed targets — never glass bottles or exploding targets.
You are responsible for every round reaching its backstop.
No horseplay. No improper handling. No exceptions.
Any member can call a cease-fire. Any member. Any time.
No ground targets or targets on top of berms (except at sanctioned shoots).
Every member has authority to insist on safety — RSO present or not.
Gear and Protection
Eye AND ear protection for everyone — members, guests, kids — at all times.
No large-bore rifles (≥ 50 cal). No cannons. No mortars.
Steel targets: 50 yd minimum on rifle, 20 yd on pistol (25 yd advised for .22 LR).
Black powder firearms must not be capped until you’re in the shooting area.
Smoking is not permitted on the firing line.
No unsafe firearm will be permitted on the range.
Guests and Access
Members may bring up to five guests at one time.
Guests must sign the annual waiver at the club shed.
Members are accountable for their guests’ actions.
No one under 21 on the property without adult supervision.
Membership cards must be displayed at the firing line (except during scheduled events).
Cards, fobs, and gate keys may not be loaned, sold, or transferred. Lending gate access = dismissal.
Keep the gate locked at all times unless a sanctioned event is underway.
Hours and Conduct
No shooting before 8 AM.
No shooting past 30 minutes after sunset, or 8 PM — whichever comes first.
Late / low-light training permitted with advance notice by email.
No shooting under artificial lighting unless approved by Committee Members.
One-hour limit per shooter when the range is crowded.
No alcohol on club property. No entry while intoxicated.
No profanity at meetings or on club grounds — family-friendly atmosphere.
Clean up after yourself: casings, trash, targets — including the last one. Lean target stands back against the stations.
Club Property
No willful destruction of club property by any means.
No climbing or digging on the berms.
No firing at protected species — grounds for immediate dismissal.
Hunting is forbidden on club property (two committee-approved exceptions: Ed & Kathy Davis, with a member along for safety).
Lost key cards, fobs, or gate keys: $50 replacement each.
Any illegal activity will be reported to proper authorities.
Pregnant members: take caution — percussion may harm unborn children.
Clay throwers welcome on the 150-yard range (first come; 2-hour limit, 1 hour if others are waiting; pick up your clays).
Sanctioned shoots are run by a Range Safety Officer where possible — the running RSO shoots only if relieved.
